Abide

As you walk with Christ, you learn to recognize when emotions and desires give rise to selfish and sinful behaviors such as anger, greed, lust, envy, and over-indulgence. If we surrender to Christ in these moments, He will give us victory over temptation. That is what it means to abide in Christ. We trust Him in all things and rely on Him for everything. Abiding in Christ is not freedom from temptation, it is freedom from indulging sinful desires when we are tempted. Until the day we go home to be with the lord, we will have the enemy, the world, and the flesh trying to drag us back into selfish and sinful patters of behavior, but who the Son sets free is free indeed! If you depend on Christ to deliver you from temptation, He will faithfully do so every time. As you abide in Him, you will bear good fruit and blossom into the person He created you to be.
