Freedom From Self

Self is not the same as sin. Self refers to the good and the bad, character traits and character defects. What most fail to understand is that all of self, the good and the bad, must be submitted to the cross in order to find life in Christ. Self-reliance, self-help, self-righteousness, self-esteem, self-love, self-denial, selfish ambitions and desires, all of self must be subjected to the pain of the cross. What terrifies us is not knowing who we will become if we submit our personality, desires, hopes, and dreams to the cross. Rest assured, God is love and desires good things for those who find life in Him. Joy, peace, and hope is the reward for those who find life in Christ through death to self.
