It Is Finished
A Good Friday reflection. Because of what Christ accomplished, we have been set free.

On Good Friday, the Son of God became the atonement for our sin and, as sin, subjected Himself to death on the cross. His death was the death of sin, and anyone who has faith in Christ is dead to sin and alive in Him. By trusting in Him, we experience the death and burial of our sinful nature. Once we are dead to sin, we are alive to God. We are no longer children of wrath; we are children of God. What evidence do we have of this new life? The Spirit of God bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and as His children, we cry out, “Abba, Father,” and receive everything necessary to please our Heavenly Father. We live in obedience to God through life in the Spirit. This produces a harvest of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and hope because we live according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. On this Good Friday, remember that we are not saved by our works; we were saved by His work on Calvary, and now our works are redeemed. We will not be judged by our works; our faith in Him has judged us, and God’s judgment says that we are free to live for His glory. Give thanks to God that Christ’s sacrifice was enough to satisfy the requirements of the law. Honor God by enjoying your freedom in Christ and bearing fruit that proves you are a child of God. Live by faith. Walk in freedom. Abide in Christ.
