The Righteousness of God
What is the righteousness of God? Is it far above anything we can fathom, or is it something we can attain?

I have always thought of the righteousness of God as something He possesses, an attribute of God that is out of my reach, yet Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” If “His righteousness” is an attribute that cannot be understood or attained, then Jesus placed an impossible yoke and burden on our shoulders. But Christ would never do that. In fact, He does the opposite. Christ did all of the heavy lifting and asks only one thing of us: have faith. In other words, trust Him. The righteousness of God is not a lofty, theological concept. It is simply God’s way of making us right with Him, which he does when a person turns their life over to the care and control of Jesus Christ. The righteousness of God is revealed to those who have fully invested themselves in the hope that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. To seek first the Kingdom of God is to surrender all of our hopes, dreams, and ambitions to the One who came to give us abundant life. If we surrender to Jesus Christ, we will be made right with God, who is faithful in satisfying all of our needs when we live by trusting in Him. So when you read about the righteousness of God, do not look to the skies for lightning bolts. Rather, offer a sacrifice of praise and gratitude for making us right with Him through faith in Christ. Let it be a reminder to renew your hope in Christ and a call to surrender your life to the One who gave His life for all.
