Obey & Abide exists because God is patient with sinners, like us. It exists because Scripture is sufficient for the darkest corners of a human life. And it exists because one man spent forty years searching for truth in every wrong place, and finally found it, not in a system or a movement, but in the person of Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

Obey & Abide exists to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ through biblically grounded counseling and doctrinally rich discipleship. Rooted in the conviction that Scripture is inerrant, infallible, and wholly sufficient for every matter of the human soul, we walk with the hurting, the searching, and the growing toward genuine reconciliation with God, lasting transformation, and a faith worth defending.

Our Vision

We envision a community of believers who know what they believe and why, who are grounded in the historic Christian faith, equipped to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints, and who glorify God in every area of life. We see men and women set free from life-dominating sin, not by technique, but by the power of God's Word and the grace of the gospel. We see the local church strengthened, pastors supported, and disciples made who go on to make disciples. Bought with a price. Living for the glory of God.

MARK'S STORY

I have looked for God in all the wrong places.

My name is Mark. I am a husband, a father, a former Marine, a former police officer, and a former television producer. I am also a former practitioner of witchcraft, satanism, and Teutonic religion. I spent time in the Word of Faith and Charismatic movements, the Eastern Orthodox tradition, Buddhism, and Freemasonry. I was a man who wanted truth badly enough to search for it everywhere, and broken enough to keep getting it wrong.

I have lived through divorce. I have walked in life-dominating sins for over thirty years. I know what it is to be separated from God not just theologically, but experientially, in the wreckage of real life.

What I did not know, until God in His sovereignty brought me to it, was that the answer was never a religion, a ritual, or a felt experience. It was a Person. And the Word He left us is sufficient for everything I was searching for.

After forty years of seeking, I came to a historic, doctrinally sound faith that didn't promise me my best life. It promised me God. And in finding Him, I found everything else in its right place: gratitude, worship, freedom, and a life being slowly, steadily transformed into the image of Christ.

That transformation is still in process. It will be until glory. But I am no longer living for myself, and I am no longer living in the dark.

WHY BIBLICAL COUNSELING

I was drawn to biblical counseling because it takes the Word of God seriously. Not as a supplement to psychology, not as a devotional add-on to therapy, but as the living, active, wholly sufficient truth that addresses every matter of the soul.

I am a Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselor through The Addiction Connection, and I am currently completing a Master of Divinity in seminary. My goal is not to position myself as an expert, but to be a well-equipped servant of the Word who can walk alongside people the way others walked alongside me.

I have a deep conviction about this: lasting transformation happens in the context of a local church. The hope and healing that discipleship and biblical counseling provide are not sustained in isolation. They are sustained through faithful preaching, accountability, community, and the ongoing ministry of a faithful pastor.

I am not here to replace your pastor. I am honored to work alongside pastors as they seek to provide the best possible soul care for their people. If you are not currently connected to a healthy, Bible-believing church, I would be glad to help you find one. That is not a side note; it is part of the ministry.

To pastors and church leaders: if your congregation has biblical counseling and discipleship needs that exceed your current capacity, we would welcome a conversation about partnership. You know your people. We want to serve them with you.

THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL CHURCH

Biblical counseling was never meant to replace the church. It was meant to strengthen it.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and fully sufficient Word of God for all matters of faith and life.

  • Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

  • Sin is the root of human suffering, and reconciliation to God through Christ is the only lasting answer.

  • Sanctification is real, costly, and worth it.

  • The local church is God's primary instrument for discipleship and soul care.

  • Hope, joy, and peace are the fruit of abiding in Christ, not the goal of counseling.
